Automotive Grade Oscillators | TKD

TKD Automotive Grade Oscillators deliver robust, stable timing for vehicle electronics, operating from −40 °C to +125 °C with AEC-Q100-style qualification. Tight stability, low jitter and proven reliability support ADAS, infotainment, body control and powertrain applications.

Ranges of Automotive Grade Oscillators

Qualified for harsh vehicle environments, these oscillators maintain frequency accuracy and low jitter under wide temperature swings, vibration and long operating life. Compact packages and CMOS output support reliable integration into ECUs, sensors and gateways.

Timing Stability Requirements for Automotive-Grade Oscillators

Temperature range

Automotive timing must hold accuracy from −40 °C to +125 °C, covering cold starts, cabin heat and under-hood duty where ambient and self-heating combine.

Stability grades

Choose ±50 ppm to ±20 ppm grades depending on the application; CAN, Ethernet and ADAS clocks demand tighter stability than body-control and infotainment functions.

Lifetime performance

Qualification includes high-temperature operating life, thermal cycling and vibration tests to confirm that frequency stays within budget over a 15-year vehicle life.

Board Integration and Reliability Considerations for Automotive Clock Sources

Trace routing

Keep clock traces short, shielded and far from high-current switching paths; use ground stitching and avoid crossing gaps in the ground plane to reduce EMI.

Placement and thermal relief

Mount the oscillator away from hot components and use appropriate thermal relief on ground pads to balance solderability with heat dissipation.

Decoupling and filtering

Use robust decoupling at VCC and, where needed, a small series resistor to suppress ringing on long clock traces routed to multiple loads.
